47 A oil line

While trying to remove the oil pump on my 47 A I twisted off the small line coming off the top going to the block. I believe it is referred to as the tappet line which is no longer available through Deere. What's the best alternative to replace it with? I believe 1/4" brake line is the same ? I don't have a flaring tool, can I just use compression fittings? Also was wondering if I could use 1/4" copper line, way more pliable and easier to work with, or would heat or pressure be an issue? I've heard these are low pressure systems. Thanks

I like steel break line. Flaring tools are cheap or you could borrow one.
Around here, most auto parts stores will loan you one.

On my A we used copper nickel (I think that?s what it?s called). It look like copper, but it?s stronger.

(quoted from post at 06:14:35 04/30/19) It was brought to my attention that vibration may be an issue with copper, your thoughts?

Look at the notes next the Key numbers 10 through 14.

Used it on my pulling G for 2 years with no problem Also have it on an A puller for 3 years no problem. Line is pretty short so doubt if there is much vibration.

Well the starting and ending fittings are usually pipe thread so the can be replaced with another sort of fitting like a brake line flared type. You could buy a premade brake line if the length worked out right.
I have taken the original JD flares cut the line off next to the fittings and bored them out in a lathe and reused them by soldering copper or steel line into them. I have also used a similar JD line from another parts tractor as long as it was close to the length and rebent them to fit.
Or best of all is if I can find an original one that is not also damaged.

If this is a work tractor use the steel line ,otherwise copper would work but I wouldn't use it ,not worth the risk . folks confuse copper coated steel lines as being copper but they are not .

Not to be a smart.... , but I hope you are using "brake" line and not "break" line. Brake line sounds like a great idea!
