We are getting ready to change JD 50 over to negative ground only concern is generator relay. Cannot imagine why it would not work anyone have anything to add?

You ask "anyone have anything to add"

FWIW I sure do. I'm assuming you mean Voltage Regulator when you say "generator relay" correct ??? If not disregard that below.

Many Voltage Regulators are designed and labeled specifically FOR POSITIVE GROUND OR NEGATIVE GROUND. Its my practice and advice to use a VR designed and best suited for your ground, be it POS or NEG, even if sure an incorrect one can "work"

Main thing to do BEFORE start up is to Polarize the Generator. When changing polarity you also need to swap coil leads and ammeter leads.

I would add: Me thinks, changing which battery terminal is connected to the chassis makes as much sense as changing the clock to day light savings time. In either case nothing changes, the tractor starts just the same and there is the same amount of day light.

Appreciate the added comments it is a relay or also called a cutout. Changed both my tractors to negative ground with correct regulators the tractor I'm asking about belongs to a friend. Everything else I own is negative ground it only made sense to convert both tractors.
