Does anyone know a cheeper (or free) website to get JD tractor manuals? I'm looking for one for my JD 2130 tractor and John Deere charges $36 just to download a pdf.
Thank you

Welcome to the site. And welcome to the world of manuals. Free manuals are few and far between for most tractors.

You usually get what you pay for with manuals. You might find a reprint of the OEM manual, or a 3rd party's rendition of a manual (CD version or printed) a bit cheaper. The catch is the quality of the photos and diagrams in some reprints are very poor to the point of not being legible and the third party may not include all the info. You can try the manuals this site sells, or eBay usually has some used or reprints available. You should check your serial number where there is more than one version.

I don't call that price bad for an OEM manual. For that price I would have to guess you are looking at purchasing an operator's manual. You can multiply that by about 4 to get a JD technical manual for your tractor, which you will want if you want to diagnose issues and make repairs. The good news is they let you use the parts catalog for free at https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/c...ountrySelected&country=US&language=19 .

That is not a stupid question, the wrong manual can be as bad or worse than none. Your link didn't take me to anything related to a 2130 so I don't know what you are looking at.

I see 3 different English Operator's Manuals (OM) when I look up 2130. OML31484 says for 1830, 2030, 2130. OML30266 says for 2030, 2130 with serial numbers prior to 181605. OML30986 is for the Hydrostatic Front Wheel Drive and says order with OML31484, I expect you only need that one if you have FWD. If your serial number is before 181605 it should be OML30266, but I can't guarantee that is it. I would suggest you call customer service at 800-522-7448 (Monday through Friday, 7AM to 4PM CST), tell them what you have for a tractor (they will need your entire serial number), and let them confirm which manual(s) you need, so you don't end up with the wrong one and not able to return it. They can help you with payment procedure and how to download if you want. I called them to be sure I was getting the right ones when I had to pay about $250 on technical manuals for a crawler.

An Operator's Manual will tell what the controls do and how to operate your tractor. It gives normal maintenance info like oil and filter change intervals, where drains and fills are, types of oils to use; like the owner's manual of a car or pick up truck.

I get all my manuals off eBay even the new ?factory
? Deere Manuals are reprinted for the older
machinery and the cover on them must have been
designed by someone at CNH If you take the
manual to use in the shop before long the cover will
be ripped also the new style manuals don?t come
with holes drilled so you can use it a binder . Most
times on eBay you can get a original factory
manual for your equipment not a reprint for less
than half what a new manual costs you do need
your serial number and you have to do a little
checking to make sure the manual is the one you
need
