John Deere 4240 / 4440 cylinder head interchange?

John Deere 4240 engine rebuilt 1 year ago (sleeves, pistons, bearings, Injection Pump, head).
Had it on the Dyno last year and it was pushing 135HP at 540 RPM s.

The head is cracked and leaking coolant now. There has also been a turbo on this tractor for 5+ years. At this point, should I replace the head with another head from a 4240 or should I use a 4440 head? Will a 4440 head and 4240 pistons cause starting problems? I am not changing pistons.

I may not put the turbo back on if I use another 4240 head.

No, I m not trading my 4240 or buying a bigger tractor so I really don t want to hear that.

Thought?

Thanks in Advanced!

I am fairly sure it won't work the valves protrude down on the 4440 head,, and I think it will let them hit the pistons,,I a sure of that on 30 series heads,,no real benefit of going that route any way,,replace the head with another 4240 head and put the turbo back on it,, I have one like that that has been doing the 140hp range for years and it is living a good life..
