JD # 45 Loader

Anyone know where I can find the return spring for the bucket latch on a #45 loader? My JD dealer tells me Part # L 1940C is obsolete.

Hardware stores have spring assortments, you should be able to match something up.

If it's larger than what they have, McMaster.com has a HUGE selection of springs, listed by dimension.

Didn't know they were supposed to have a return spring. I always had to lower the bucket to get it to click back into latch. Would be curios to see a picture of one

He is looking for the latch spring.

Here is the parts catalog info on the bucket return spring option.

Fred - if you do a little experimenting, you can figure out how to re-latch the trip bucket without lowering it to the ground. It's designed to re-set itself after tripping. When you pull the trip lever, quickly drop the loader and the combination of the loader drop and the bucket rebound will make it re-set. I've been doing it for 50 years. If you get manure or dirt build-up in the bucket, it will be out of balance and will not re-set properly. It also helps to have the powertrol lever and the trip lever on opposite sides so you have a hand on each lever.
