3020 Lifting Arms

The links on the lifting arms for the 3020 will not turn to adjust. I tried a gentle twist with a pipe wrench and pipe extension....no luck.

What's the cure for this?...I don't want to put too much twist and screw up the yokes.

Lots of heat and even that sometimes does not work. New aftermarket ones are reasonably priced. You can not screw them apart due to a roll pin in the bottom. Get them free then screw in and remove roll pin then thread it apart. After the heat you will need a new grease seal. Tom

okay, I will give some heat a try. Not looking to take them apart, only get them working. Nice to be able to fine tune leveling and to get that little adjustment when pinning up.

I was never able to get mine unstuck. I tried the half/half tranny fluid and acetone mix suggested on here, after 2 weeks of soaking I went to regular water as suggested somewhere else on here. I hit them with hammers etc and I could get break free to flow from the lifted grease seal on top to drip out the bottom but still no movement with me standing on 2 pipe wrenches with the lift arms removed and on the garage floor. I just put them back on and if I need to adjust them I guess I'll have to just buy new ones.

I took mine off my 4020 and pinned the yoke to the hitch on my truck, as the drawbar on the tractor was too thick. Supported the other end of the arm on a block of wood so it was level. Then took the pipe wrench and a 4' cheater pipe and bounced up and down on the end to break it free. The yoke was plenty strong enough to withstand that.
The strangest thing was that on one the arms, the threads at the point where it was stuck were corroded away to the point that the shaft was way undersized, although the threads in the yoke were fine. I guess the rust and dirt was all that was holding it in place.

I got the ones on my 4010 loose by doing this^^^^.

I would let them sit in the fire until they glowed, then pull them out and hit them with the water hose.

It took three or four sessions, but I got them completely free.....they turned easily.

I used a big propane torch with a big rose bud had
to heat them cherry red on the ones on the 4020 still
took a big pipe wrench to get them to move once I
turned them a few rounds and all the old dirt and
grease fell out they turn by hand . Once you get em
free keep em greased

years ago when i bought my 3020 i was able to soak and get one loose.. the other I gave up on and sent to J.D. garage
to loosen.. they ended up braking it and I had to buy a new one anyway..relize that that was a last resort..and figured
Id be buying a new one..
