I got a 1944 B with a really rusty tag. We used chalk and think we got the numbers off. I knows lots of sites sell blank tags but where can I get the correct stamps at? Better yet, is there a place that sells the tag and stamps them for you?

Also, how do I get the old tag off without damaging anything? Do the rivets pull straight out?

I would leave it alone. The 44's had steel tags because of the wartime rationing of aluminum. The replacements don't look the same and are not the same material....I'm also not a fan of tampering with the tags.

The rivits have a right hand "twist" to them and rotate slightly as they're driven in. To get them out, if
it's even possible, they'd have to be turned to the left. Grinding off the heads wouldn't leave much to get
a hold on.

Does anyone reproduce the steel tags or is there any overlays available that are correct for the war time models?

I have two 44 B's. Neither of them are currently running. One still has the original soybean covered steering wheel. The serial
numbers are only 33 digits apart. 160xxx range.
