2940 stuck in 4wd

Spent a small fortune today on a solenoid and valve for a 2940 stuck in 4wd. It appears to be working fine, it making a clicking noise when the switch is cycled. Looks like there s an area for 3 wires though and I a positive and ground hooked up. Not sure what the third terminal is for.
Well lo and behold it s still stuck in 4wd. Would anybody have additional ideas what might make it come out of 4wd.
Thanks in advance

It is spring applied.It uses
hydraulic pressure to overcome the
spring pressure to operate in 2wd
drive. If it won't release could be
siezed clutch pack leaking sealing
rings on release piston or a
hydraulic leak lnternaly

There is a spacer ring around the mfwd clutch pack that the piston pushes on when the clutch is disengaged (pressure to clutch piston to release the clutch). I have had several where the spacer wears off the ends enough that it is not long enough to release the clutch anymore. The first one I found like that I ended up removing the clutch assembly twice as the wear is so smooth it looks like factory machining. Also, there are only 2 terminals used on the solenoid and it sounds like you have the right ones if you can hear it click.

Haha the tractor came out of 4wd after a while and now it won?t go
back in. It was stuck in 4wd for some time so I?m hoping that it?s a
matter of freeing itself up.
