Hi i have 2 jd 40's and a 420. What are the cheapest oil filters available for them. I know fram has the c183pl but thats still pricey.

I've decided I don't need to change the filter with every oil change.
Every other oil change gets you a 50% $ filter.

Yes, I've heard grease is cheaper then parts.

$6 for a new wix or Deere filter. Frugal is one thing but you can get carried away.

BTW, it only filters a minimal amount of oil so cheap ain't the way to go.

alot of people worry about the price of a oil filter and oil. but like others suggest on here.
just go and get one from john deere. rebuilding an engine or finding a crank and bearings is alot more $$$ because people thought it was to much
cost to do an oil change. we get alot more spuratic weather and more condensation in the oil pans so dont fret about the cost. its minimal.
One of the bigger worries that most people with dubuque tractors forget to check is the big steel washer that goes on the bottom of the oil filter
in the canister. almost all them are thrown out in the garbage because its stuck to the bottom of the filter.
if you dont have it in place the filter does not do its job properly.
i have made up several spares because they are no longer available from deere.
check to see if you have it and if not shoot me a email on the bottom of my post and i can help you out.

Just keep using the same filter. You can always just change the filter whenever it quits running. If it's still running that's all that matters. Cuts your filter cost to zero.
