What is the value of the 4020?s now, I have a nice 71 model I?ve had for a year that I bought for a investment, bought new locally, nice and straight runs great and I was told original paint, has 7445 hours on original working tach, it come from factory with a cab that has been removed and fenders put on, you can tell they have been repainted, but it?s a nice solid tractor, also has original 3rd member, differential lock and dual hydraulics, factory 1000-16 on front 18.4-34 on rear, please give me your input on this tractor as I thought I would have more time to play but hasn?t turned out that way, this was a hay tractor NO front end loader and drawbar wasn?t worked to death, also has front weights

Talk to Larry Anderson. He sells a lot of these tractors. He should have a really good handle on what this 4020 is worth.

You should be the 10-12,000 range. A friend just bought a good original 4320 with factory roll guard and roof that needed rubber on a farm sale for $10,000. It takes a 72 model to really get the collectors attention.Another neighbor bought a good strait 69 4020 with a 148 loader that needs tires for $9200 and sold the loader for $2500. Tom

I just sold mine awhile back only should 272 hours very very nice tractor and it only brought a a little more than they are talking on here. buyer had his mechanic ck it out and he told the owner he honerstly thought those were the right ours. I looked showroom nice new tires the works. text me I will send you pictures. oh now I here it should have brought 30k my loss there gain.

Without it being something really special, IE low hours, all factory original, special features, etc, $10-12K will stop the majority of them right now. The very late 1972 models will bring $2-3K more.

Yours has several things that will limit it value. The 7440 hours is not high hours but is far from low hours. The removal of the factory cab helps and hurts. LOL The help in that the cabs where not the nicest ones other than is cold weather. The bad is that the fenders are not the original ones. The trouble is the ones bringing supper high prices either are very low houred or completely restored to the correction police standards.

A 1972 completely restored JD 420 diesel did bring $22K close to here just two years ago. The sell had almost that in all the work he had done without any labor cost included.

I will say this as a general observation, farm tractors are rarely a good investment when just looked at from a purely financial point of view.

It's just a good old work horse,,it would be in the $9-10,000 range around here, and worth more with out the cab here.

From info provided condition of tires,P.S or syngro, weights are all unknown factors.A nice original paint 71 4020 will start at $10K and $15K would be about it.If it is a power shift then add around $2K and weights add about $1 per #.The one with 272 hours would have been a real gem but there has to be a story that would verify the hours as I have looked at many low houred tractors with different tachs but wear points tell a different story.Pictures would help. The ones that sell at Mechums have to be excellent to bring over $20K and the 10% commission plus consignment fees add up.I bought a 4320 from a gentleman that just sold the nicest 766 you would find for less than 1/2 of what he had spent on it.I have several people looking for nice lowered houred tractors and they are hard to find.I bought 4 nice original[5900/6700hours] 72 4020s from a collector in Nebraska for $12K each 3 had factory cabs with working A/C one was power shift. All sold quickly 2 went to friends at cost and but power shift made the profit.I bought a very nice 4320 that had after market cab removed all original 9K hours with verified O.H for $9K. the paint was nice but not nice enough for me so after adding correct fenders putting on new Firestones and near perfect paint I sold it for a profit to a collector> The problem is it was too nice to use for me as I use everything that is in the shed if I need to. Good Luck I would be interested in your tractor.

thanks Larry I will get pictures when I get it cleaned up, it's been sitting in the garage since I bought it just like it came out of the field
