John Deere 60 pto

Just got my John Deere 60 tractor home tonight it's 15xxx seiral number live pto and it does nothing when I pull the lever up sounds like it snaps in but doesn't turn at all and I can't turn the shaft at all didn't try it with a pipe wrench but didn't want to break anything either might be working on my first PTO clutch any ideas thanks Howard

Howard, the pto shift lever is just to the right of the transmission shift quadrant. Right I'd disengaged, left is engaged. ONLY shift it in with the engine not running. Hope that's all your problem is. Mike

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]Mike n mo[/b:654c4848f0] that "[i:654c4848f0]the pto shift lever is just to the right of the transmission shift quadrant[/i:654c4848f0]".

Hope this helps.

When you have the clutch lever pulled up, the PTO shaft should turn if the clutch is working properly and the lever by the transmission shifter is disengaged. Not being able to turn the PTO lever as you mentioned most likely means the clutch needs work.
