Re: hyd.pump seal 1020 jd keeps blowing in reply to tooltimeal, 04-25-2007 10:45:15
Which pump do you have? The little German four or eight piston, or the U.S. built 2.4 c.i. pump?
Also, when you pull it part, what exactly has gone bad - are you finding the internal quad-ring torn up? On any of the pumps, the shaft needs to be tight and not have excessive side-play or end-play. But the two little German pumps do not have adjustable bearings, whereas the bigger U.S. pump does. If the shaft is loose, the internal quad-ring will keep failing, and subsequently, push out the external lip-type seal on the shaft.
I tried to quote this old thread and never could get it to work...
My Question:
This is an old post, not sure it will help to revive it but here goes...
Are any of you folks familiar with the statement,in this old post, that you can adjust the bearings in a JD 1020 hydraulic pump? AR103033
I'm thinking about replacing the seal in my pump, but I see a tiny bit of play/movement when I wiggle the shaft side to side? Not sure if there should be any movement at all? Does anyone know the precise measurement the shaft should Mic at?
Thanks for any thoughts or input...
