John Deere 4250 exhaust/smoke

I am concerned that the exhaust upon start up may affect the air intake of this 4250 tractor and not be so good on the engine. My shop is 10' tall. I had to remove the upper exhaust pipe just to get it inside of the building. Just after startup, a lot exhaust gets pulled into the air intake.

Yes it will plug your air filters up,,if your going to run a short stack you should shorten your air stack,,a lot of them around here just delete the tall pipe and put the top section down near the hood/

Thanks Tim.

This is my tractor.
You can see my concern.
I tried to post the video here but I couldn't get it to.
I don't want to run the short exhaust stack, but I had to just to get it in the garage. I will have to do your suggestion to get it to help not suck in the exhaust.

Thankyou

That is kinda normal for a cold start,, I would delete the long air stack and put the top down near the hood.

Yeah I have been around these tractors all my life and the cold starts are entertaining. It's just that where I live now, I have one of the tractors stored in this shorter shop and as you saw, I have a problem. I will do what you suggest.

Thanks for your thoughts.

(quoted from post at 16:50:32 04/10/19) Put an elbow on the exhaust pipe to shoot the exhaust away from the intake.

Another good idea. I haven't done anything yet.

Thanks!

I am also thinking about doing it like my Deere dealer has in their repair shop. Install a hood to place over the pipe, and flexible 6"-8" hose and mount a draw fan to the side of my building to suck exhaust outside. I wouldn't want a big fan, just small/big and high speed enough to suck out exhaust for one tractor.
