I'm in the midst of doing the final touches to my wife's 1939 John Deere B. I been looking around for a chrome stack to put on it. Not a muffler but like a chrome stack. As many of you know there is not many options out there for a 1939 Styled B. Dont get me wrong but even my wife likes to hear the 2 cylinder talk back to her!
Does anybody have any ideas, pictures or suggestions as to where we could find one and still look neat? Not just slapped on. Or has anybody made one? I'm even open to that idea...

I'm open to any ideas and Thank You in advance!

Should be super easy to make one. Do you have and old muffler base ? If so your over half way done. Should be able to even mig weld it onto a base plate as that part would be under the hood out of site.

I used a angle iron and made some . One was a black curved piece from a nerf bar running board off a pickup . The other was a stainless exhaust tip .

Old time farm days in our County bring old timers, that like the sound!

Fortunately, we run these only at Old time machinery days:

Thomore 573-649-3628 is a source of chrome stacks and accessories for tractors and knows exactly what size and pipes are high quality.

I my self like the old tractors with them black. It must be the age of me and this is a thing a lot of young people like to do and they look nice but im one to think that chrome is nice for some things but not on the old tractors. Like the guys are saying if u just use your old base plate and do all the welding under the hood it will look nice or get a pipe that will fit over or in that's tight that works for long pipes and low sheds when putting them in. You can take the pipe you want to use to a shop and they can make it alittle bigger to fit tight.

Found this one for my 70D at the Two Cylinder show in Wooster Ohio for $75, vendors were more than willing to part with their goods.

They are readily available but quality and price does vary. Either way picture your self wearing ear protection , you are going to need some. What?
What? What? LOL

I'd get your wife's hearing checked, a stock muffler on a '39 B is plenty loud to tolerate even for a few
minutes.
If you want chrome, slide a chrome pipe over the muffler, I recommend a pipe with a turn-out tip, direct
as much of the racket away from the operator, even with the muffler inside. Dad bought a '40 B I ran a
little for a few years. He welded up a turn-out tip that clamped on facing forward, made a BIG
difference. I think the ringing in my ears was from the R diesel I plowed with most of one spring. First
day I ran that thing, ran it about 4-5 hours, ears rang for 5 hours afterwards. The 4 & 6 cylinder
tractors I ran never bothered me.
