Park pawl spring

If the park pawl spring was off on a 3020 would the park disengage ? I was replacing the broken and repaired front drawbar support when I drained the oil I found a mystery spring I checked it against the specs for the spring that I found and it is for sure the park pawl spring. There is also a mystery washer in the bottom of the case that looks like it may have came off of the park pawl shaft ?

Well the washer in the bottom isn?t off the park pawl shaft because the bushings are 13/16 diameter the one I found that is still in the case is about 2.5 across

If that is the spring off the pawl,, the pawl will bounce off the park cog till it wears the teeth off,,and it will keep trying to lock into place when ever it can,,, pull the top cover now and deal with it,, hoping your not too late.

There are no shavings or any teeth in the transmission housing so I think I caught it in time . Any ideas where a big washer might come from

Disconnect the park cable from the arm on the transmission and turn the arm by hand. You should feel the spring pressure as the cam pushes the pawl in. If you can feel spring pressure, you may have the remains of a previous failure where they replaced the spring but didn't bother to find the old one.

The good thing is now we know about the spring. The shim I don?t know about yet guess we?ll button it up and run there is no noises and everything is working but the draft but I can?t see any spring or shim related to the draft
