2040 what rpm for lift to work

Ive got a 2040 john deere. Every thing
works good you just have to be 1500rpm
ish or better for lift to work is this
normal? Fluid is full,fluid is
new,filter is new.

Due to the fact your 2040 has closed center hyd's( SN 379XXX) hyd's should operate at engine idle. I read in one of your previous post where you changed filter BUT have you checked/cleaned sump screen? It's possible the stroke control valve in frt hyd pump is worn & not seating correctly

Should lift at idle, 750 rpm, as well as at any speed.

Lift should work at idle, a little slower than when revved up. Does it hold position or drop when at idle?

Lift does not move or anything till revved up. It does not drop or anything. Lift is good and strong

Have you check/clean trans screen? Have you checked to be sure hyd filter relief valve(keys 7-9) isn't stuck open?

. They will lift while cranking the engine over during starting.
