Oil filter canister housing

When I dismantled the oil filter assembly , I found the only inner hardware was the bottom plate seal . The top plate , washers and spring wasn't used by the original owner. I can only find the bottom plate seal replacement, the other hardware isn't offered . This has me wondering if using just the bottom plate was a common practice. Thank you for your consideration on this issue,Ron

Guessing from your user name; you are talking about a 420 engine oil filter housing, John Deere parts show the washer (M91T), spring (M90T), and upper sealing plate (M293T) as being available parts. They should be there to seal the element to be sure oil goes through the filter media, not around it.

I have the numbers for the parts, but unable to find them anywhere., with the exception bottom plate.

I don't know where you have checked. All I can say is all three show, with prices, when I look through the link through my dealer on the JD Parts Homepage. Every one gets at least one hit on a web search and there is at least one of each on eBay right now. Just what I have seen to check.

John Deere has all three available. They match the same parts as on my 1010 gas. I replaced M91T and M90T on mine as the spring was broke and the washer gouged up. It was around $27 for both. Call your local John Deere dealer.

Found them thank you, I usually buy from same places, Just needed to look in other places . Thanks so much,Ron
