Resealing the lift cylinders on my 158. Removed outer ring, tapped gland in and removed the internal ring. Cannot get the gland to come out of the tube. No corrosion at the end of the tube internally. Don't feel any ridges or burrs either. Gland stops dead at the end of the tube, even with a gentle tug with the truck. Any help is appreciated.

As long as you got the internal snap ring off....

Gentle wont do it. Give it hell...

I used my JD2010 to pull them apart on my 158 loader and the wheels were spinning. I had to back up and give it a jerk.

I have had them in a vise,, aim them out the door,, and put some air pressure to it,,and yes it makes a mess...

I did one of ours years ago. Should of did both then. The one not done leaks now.
I remember having a little issue getting mine apart. Holding it to loosen the piston nut was tough too. I bolted the rod back onto the loader frame and blocked it onto the tire IIRC and had to get a long cheater pipe on the breaker bar.
To stick it back together I hung it from the rafters and lowered the rod into the cylinder. Trying to carefully push the edges of the VEE packing in as I went. Still shaved a little off the edges of the first ones.

  It felt and sounded real solid when the gland hit the end of the tube. Probably had about 6" of slack in the rod and gland when I pulled with the truck. How much is too much to jerk these things???

Air scares me as once when reassembling a 46a cylinder the inside gland would not come out so I hooked the air to it and it came out along with the internal snap ring and ruined the barrel. I prefer to hook a hyd hose to a tractor and slowly work the lever. Just did a 146 last Wed. Tom
