John Deere Hay Wagon #963

I need to get tires for it. Looking for used tires. It has 6.00 -16" Goodrich tires on it but manual says it takes 7.50 x 16, 8 -ply ribbed implement tires. Local Farm Tire shop told me 245-75-16s would work. They won't work. Another guy said 215-65-R16 or 225-65-R16 would work. Does anyone have experience with the 963 and what tires will work with the wheels. Wheels are disk type, with 16 x 5.50 drop center rims. Everything is original on the wagon including wheel bearing caps. Thieves have been in the barn and I need to get the wagon moved before they go after it too. Also have a gravity bed that goes with it.

There are a lot of used car-van-truck 16" tires that should work if you can find 4 of desired height. An extra inch of width should work and would be easier to mount tubeless if rims are good enough.

(quoted from post at 17:46:31 04/06/19) what do you mean by wont work?? are they too wide and rub?

Yes they are too wide for the wheel. The inside of the wheel measures 4 inches. Owner of the tire store told me tubeless wont seal and that I will need tubes.

I just checked two 65 year old spare tire rims with 205-70-15 tires mounted tubeless .they are 4.5" wide and still holding air. They are 25"tall and a 6x16 is about 26'' tall. 205-70 or 65-16" should be about right. Make sure beads are not damaged and use bead sealer and they should work.
