Them being GAS really kills them around here. I would not give half for a JD gas tractor of that vintage. They just take more maintenance than what I am will to fool with on a regular basis.

Do the Dubuque built gas engines have as bad as a reputation as the 4020/3020 gas engines? Just asking, I've wondered that.

I bought a 2510 gas last Spring. I was expecting to be fighting that engine but I'm always surprised how well it runs. HOWEVER- all I have done with it is move trailers around. No load at all. I put ethenol-free gas in it too. I've had better luck with that in my mowers and weed wacker.

The Dubuque built gasoline engines normally run better than the Waterloo built gasoline engines. I think a lot has to do with the type of carburetors.

I kept my hands in my pockets because they were gassers. If the 2520 hadn't been a 1969, we could have put a diesel in it and made a few bucks. Seems people only want 1971's and 72's, the market has fallen of on 2520's like everything else.

The Mecum sale that was last week had strong prices. The restored 8020 brought over $170K a 530 I saw on TV coverage was over $10K so its still good for the right ones.I am seeing the pre 1992 tractors are bring more than they did three years ago.Too much reliance on the new technology that sometimes doesn't work all the time.Late model tractors 5 years old or less are plentiful and are a bargain compared to what they were new.

Maybe. Maybe not. Quite a bit of the time I see a piece sell that aligns fairly well with what I see for final bid on sites such as Auction time. One time I heard about a 1972
4020 diesel selling for 8,200 dollars which I initially saw as cheap. Then I checked a couple of websites and saw that the price was right in line with other sales given the
condition of the tractor. Stuff does not fall through the cracks like it did years ago in the information dark ages.

5 tractors,full line of
equipment,good turnout and internet
bidding I just listed the older
deeres for comparison.2510/2520 have
always sold very well around here
until lately

. I would purchase a gas 2520 PS without question . Aftermarket ignition with “vacuum” advance . Then there is a fuel injection retrofit system .

I looked up the sale bill and for that area and that nice of a line of equipment those prices are way off. That area usually has high prices but there were lots of other sales that day.I wonder how the rest of the stuff sold? Tom
