Grease Zerks

Haven't used that brand but I have a couple different ones. Often they work, sometimes they don't. Depending on what the zerk is in, if you can "unload" the part to be sure the port is clear for grease to pass it helps.

You might consider removing the grease zerk and try forcing grease through it.

If no grease passes through it, then you might consider soaking the grease zerk in some penetrate and try again.

Hope this helps.

I have one similar to the one you mentioned, not sure of brand think I got it from Northern Tool, it does work sometimes as mentioned, if not remove zerk as mentioned. If zerk is open try to get old grease out below it

The best thing to do is use better grease to start with. Many types of grease get hard as concrete over time. If the zerk is not taking grease take it out and clean the zerk first. Then clean the passage it pushes grease in. I have found a little heat with a hand held propane torch will often soften the old grease up.

The tools you talking about are basically forcing fluid into the zerk and hope it clears out the passage way. I have one of them and it only works maybe 25% of the time.

I have a John Deere brand grease buster and it works pretty good sometimes If they?re not to froze up with old grease and dirt

Thanks for the comments - as I suspected the better way is to take it apart and clean everything - the easy fix usually isn't really a fix! Thanks.

"Better Grease" is any grease that comes in a container with the John Deere name on it.
