Broken Stud removal

I would have had them blown out with a cutting torch before he had the manifold clamped in his mill.

I have used the ol cast melts hotter than steel trick a few times you?ve got to do it right and quick or you can burn the cast to. Had to torch the remaining bolts out of the wedges in a dual hub and it worked but I did melt a little cast on one bolt hole

Sometimes when the part is made out of unobtainium, fast is not the best method! Adam did save the threads in the casting. I have been taking out broken studs for over 60 years and there were a couple of tricks that he showed that might have save me a lot of pain if I had used them. On a big piece that you can't get into a mill to machine a flat to start with, the use of a center drill, or spotting drill and a heavy center punched starter dimple would have helped and not ended up off center and damaged the threads.
