I?m trying to finish up a project. Just put Transmission back
together with new park pawl shaft and new park lock cam.
Got everything tightened up and the pawl now locks nice and
tight. New coil spring on. The cam and lever and new park
cable. Now the problem is that the lever isn?t staying back in
park and the lever will slide back to neutral. The 15 speeds
have a place to hook the shifter lever. The 8 speeds seem to
have a cheesy spring that will hold the lever towards the park
notch and or the reverse side. Is this what?s supposed to hold
it engaged? Don?t trust it as is and wondering if that spring in
the shifter is weak. Thoughts anyone? Or were they always
prone to getting released.
