I'm trying to help my neighbor & I have no access to 4000 series tech manual. IIRC test port is on clutch valve housing. I think fitting size is in photo below. Can someone please verify or post location of PS pto psi test port & possibly size of test fitting required?
Thanks,Jim

Neighbor stated pto is slipping. I think pto plates are toast but thought it would be best to check pto pressure before splitting tractor between engine & clutch housing for a visual inspection of clutch plates

Thank you SV that's where I thought the test ports were located.

Jim, as you know, the PTO clutch is inside the PS transmission, not at the flywheel, so it will take a bit more than a "split" to get to them.

If operating pressure is low, check operation and adjustment of PTO clutch valve per service manual.

The valve is operated by a really flimsy linkage that can bend when caked, hardened accumulated field dirt builds up under the steering pedestal, on top of the clutch housing, and gets in the way of the lever on the backside of the clutch operating valve.

When linkage rod bends valve lever doesn't get rotated to limit, and clutch pressure is low, and PTO clutch slips.

Just dealt with that, for the second time in a year.

Checking that may avoid a split, hopefully!

Thank you the part discussing PS pto would be great. My email should be open on both Classic or Modern view.
Thanks again,Jim
