4230 fuel sending unit wiring

Does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram or know where I can find one for the fuel sending unit? The tractor has been botched by different mechanics over the years. My gauge is reading half full when it is actually full and then reads empty when its actually half full. Upon inspection I believe my sending unit has two connections but only one is connected and the harness is cut and spliced and botched making it impossible to trace back to the gauge so I think I just want to start fresh with new wiring.

There's only one wire between the sender and gauge, the other is an "unused in this application" ground terminal, as the sender (hopefully) grounds through it's mounting screws to the tank and the tank is grounded by it's steel mounting straps and the steel fuel line.

Note the fuel gauge needle position with the wire disconnected from the sender and isolated from ground, and again with the sender wire grounded.

Gauge should read "full" one way, and "empty" the other way.

If it does, wiring and gauge are OK, problem is with sender.

If NOT, you have a gauge or wiring problem.

If you need more help, post back, I have a diagram, but not where I'm at tonight.
