JD 2555 trans question

I have an odd condition I’d like to ask for help diagnosing. Our 2555 has thrown some strange symptoms that seem a bit random. At times the tractor will lose its ability to move forward with or without a load on it. It almost feels like clutch slippage, takenit out of gear and it takes right off without a hitch. All the low range gears seem fine, shift to high range and it seems to slip in all gears and most of the time never building any speed. Does this sound like a clutch issue or could it be in the valve block. All the hydraulics work fine and all filters and fluid have been changed as part of my attempt to resolve the condition. I don’t know if there are any inspection options to look at in the bellhousing, I haven’t looked at my repair manual yet to determine what I can review or service myself.

Does tractor have option of hyd hi-lo? If so the clutch plates inside hi-lo are slipping or traction clutch is slipping. Does clutch pedal have any free travel?

The Hi/low is on the shift levers (left shifter) but it does have the reverser Transmission. There is free play, the pedal releases the clutch in the last 2” of travel. I have to bottom out the pedal to get the tractor to shift without and gear grinding. It’s shifted like that since I purchased the unit.
