Was the 4 piston pump used exclusively during production or did the late 2510 tractors have the 8 piston pump?

Not only did the 4 piston pumps last through 2510 production, but ran into the early 2520 production! AAARGGGGHHH! Years ago now, I bought a very nice 2000 hour 2520 out of the hills east of here, in the Oneonta area. Imagine my shock and horror when I discovered it had the same dreaded pump which cursed my fathers 1966 2510.

His bothered early on, and the dealer put in an 8 piston pump. My cousin nursed along my uncles 1967 2510 for probably 30 years, before he sold it, with the original pump, as he didn't like the hard starting power robbing 8 piston in Dad's tractor.

I immediately put a 3020-4020 pump in my 2520. I believe the 8 piston replacement pump for these tractors was not as big as the 3020-4020 pump.

Dad had a 2510 with a 46 loader with the four piston pump and never had any problems and had more lift than my 3020 with the bigger pump. As far as my 2510 diesel I was not one bit sorry to see that 4 piston pump leave. If they are working use them untill they quit but don't spend any money on them. I think the power shifts had the bigger pumps. I know they had an oil cooler where as the syncro's did not. Tom

Bought a new '66 2510 and immediately replaced the pump
under some kind of reduced price program.
I don't remember the details of the program. It's been
too long ago.
All 2510s had 4 piston pumps. Ours is power shift.
They were 1.5 IN.3 which would have had same stroke as
the 4020 pump (3 IN.3).
The replacement pump was 2.4 IN.3 (3020).
