JD G hydraulics

Hi all,

Interested in doing some discing with a G in the spring to break it in after an overhaul. This will be my first time using the hydraulics on it. What needs to be adjusted/checked before using it? I can't seem to find the oil capacity anywhere (IT shop manual doesn't have it). Also, what volume cylinder can I operate without worrying about lack of oil?

The Powr-trol takes about 5 quarts of the same oil used in the engine. A remote cylinder and hoses take
about another quart. Open the test cock on the right side and add oil until it starts to run out of the
test cock. Cycle the cylinder several times to fill the cylinder and then check/add more oil.

I don't remember the amount of oil. Six quarts I think. Just
fill it until the oil runs out of the petcock. If you are using
a double acting cylinder (two hoses) it does not matter what the
volume is.

I guess that's true, didn't think about that.

I would get the power troll book and read it as there are many adjustments. It is similar to the a and b.
