As we both know, the tractor left the factory with a 24 Volt system.

But that was a long time ago, and "stuff happens".

It's POSSIBLE someone has also converted the starter to 12 Volts, and reconnected the battery groups in parallel.

Or, if a series-parallel switch has been installed, a 12 Volt alternator can charge the batteries, yet there will be 24 Volts available to the starter.

Do you know for SURE it's a 24 Volt alternator, a 24 Volt alternator can be modified on the inside to generate 24 Volts, and still have the same outside appearance and a 12 Volt part # or I.D. sticker.

Or, a person who didn't know what they were doing could have installed a 12 Volt alternator without realizing it was a 24 Volt system.

Kurt,

I have a Delco 24 volt generator (never used Army, I think) that I bought surplus (actually 2). Send me an email and I'll measure and take photos of it and my 730 generator that is original to the tractor and send if you are interested. Price is $50 plus shipping.

Is that 24V Army generator a floater or connected to chassis ?
