The 3 point hitch on a 1967 4020 drops fast when
you turn the tractor off what should I check ?

The lift cylinder piston seals could be checked.
If the rockshaft control has very little play, this may indicate that you have the lift valve and lower valve open at the same time, so the adjustment has to be redone.
There is a big nut too remove on side of the rockshaft control box to do the adjustment.

Lastly, the lowering and raising valve seats could need to be ground.
Than the thermal valve could be in question. On a 1967, you can easily block off the external line to determine if this is the cause.

Most of the time it will not be the piston seal causing this,,some thing is probably caught in the valve seat .
