Not to hijack warrior's thread on "What is it" and to make the information below more readily accessible, I started a new topic. Following is one picture of the JD 101 experimental tractor from March of the JD 2013 calendar. And then there's 3 photos of the X-80 tractor proposed in 1971. It had a Dihatsu gasoline engine mounted transversely below the operator's seat. It was hydrostatic drive with a cam-lobe motor for each rear wheel. I'm not sure but I think the money was spent, like maybe some $30 million, to tool the tractor at Horicon before the plug was pulled on the project. The cam lobe motors that were developed for the tractor lived on as the rear wheel drives in JD combines for many years.
