Who has purchased JD A manifold studs recently and can make a recommendation? I would like to buy a set of studs that have the correct interference fit on the head end and made from quality bar stock. Deere lists them for 40 bucks each. Hopefully there are some a little less expensive.

Thanks in advance!

Sharps antique tractor works. www.oldjd4u.com

Used them hundreds of times. Put a set of manifold bolts on my 39 and 35 B. Great people to work with. Good prices too.

I ordered a set from Sharp's, sent them right back with the other stuff I ordered. I need a set for mine. I hacksawed mine off very easily and I don't think they are Gr.8, probably Gr. 5. I found a website for Allen's Fasteners. It take some searching but they have some that match the lengths close. Only difference sit they are fine thread at the nut end. Some guys use bolts. Or you can cut off gr. 5 bolts and thread the ends. Studs usually have the block end made to a slightly larger pitch diameter for a tight fit.

I have put many back on with bolts and thread sealer. This way you can always remove it if ever needed in the future without tearing the whole tractor apart.

Just thought of a trick for you. I may of even done this too. Take a longer than required bolt and saw the head off. Now thread that end with a die but only go far as needed. If you have the adjustable type dies those would be even better yet as you could make the threads oversized.

If you know the specs you can call ARP.

If you're gonna us studs, I'd make them long enough on the nut end so they can be double nutted in case you ever want to take them out. Personally, I'd use grade five or grade eight stainless steel. bolts and lubricate the threads.
