Thinking about putting this hitch on my B to plow the garden with. The plow I have is a 812 model (2x14) which is category II with the horse head center link. What I am wondering is will the B safely lift the plow? I know the Letter models were not designed for the three point hitch that came in later production years.

(quoted from post at 15:33:22 02/12/19) Dan, I think your B will lift that plow fine. I briefly had an aftermarket/homemade 3 pt on my 48 B and it lifted the 6 ft bush hog just fine. The only thing I noticed with mine was that my front end became dangerously light when going up a slope with the bushog raised. Your plow should not extend as far back as a rotary mower so the weight distribution should be a little better but you still may want to fabricate or rig up a temporary front weight. Also, make sure to tighten up the cap screws where the rockshaft housing bolts to the rear axle housing and where the rear axle housing bolts to the transmission case because these tend to get loose and let oil seep through the gasket surface.

I got one of those. Lifts like nothing hooked to lift. 812 2-14 plow. tractor is quite steerable when the plow is up. Used to run it in the parades at EFD back when.

I bought a late B with that hitch and plow one time. I don't think it had any big issues lifting it ? I still added a front end starter weight off a 720 using just the 2 bolt holes on the front end. That makes it stable on hills.

You will certainly need front weight with 2-14's especially if you need to load the tractor on a trailer. Those plows are heavy.

If I remember right Deere didn't recommend the 800 hitches for As, Bs, Gs due to insufficient front weight.....not that that stopped many people
