4320 Cab to Fenders

I would like to convert my 1971 4320 from Hinson Cab to Open Station. If anyone has done this I would be interested in any comments.

The Cab is so noisy I don't like driving it. I am told the open station would be more comfortable noise wise. Any experience with this?

Also, what parts do I need? I am thinking Large Fenders, Platform, Sheetmetal around the seat. Is that it or is there more?

I have been having trouble getting into the JD Parts Book or I might have a better list.

By the time I had cab removed w/ROPS still on tractor cab was unusable. Torch is your friend. Abilene Machine will have fenders etc to complete the cab removal.

Paul ,We have removed several Hinsen cabs and you are correct as you will need a late model deck or you will have to make place for dimmer switch and hydraulic oil fill. You can use older deck just have to modify it some. The big fenders and stands plus lighting harness and your 3 piece rock shaft covers plus your side shields will be cut out so need correct ones.THe roll bar is reusable and there are people looking for doors windows and small stuff for cabs.Original fenders are hard yo come by and they also make new decks.I just sold my last set.I actually bought 4 1972 JD 4020 from Nebraska from a collector 3 had A/C that worked and sold all of them intact but they were very nice original lower hour tractors. It is a tedious job removing all the bolts as several are hidden or hard to get at.I know of guys that torched bolts off RollGard and didn't realize they are a special hardened bolt that are about $30+ a piece. I have actually had a couple 4320s that had the Stolper cab installed at dealer and that's a much better deal as deck and canopy can be salvaged.New Fenders $300 plus paint each, deck $250,stands $100 each,Rock shaft covers$350 can reuse lights and sell Roll Gard for $500+.I seen a couple 6030 and 4320 that had Sound Gard cabs installed very nicely but no matter how nice they wouldnt bring enough premium to offset the cost. Just Unique.

Paul I looked to see if I still had your email but our computer had to be relaced and lost several older contacts.Send me your email and ph# I don't know if I can stll get fenders as cheap but can check. They want a $1500 order to get dropped shipped. The last set I had were like new originals that came on a 68 4020 for some reason so I bought it and switched to correct ones.I just sold the 2 nicest 4320s that I have ever had to buy a neighboring farm .I will send you a picture if I get your email.

Thanks everyone for the input. I sent a message to Abilene and All States to see what they have. Paul
