John Deere 2020 dies

My Jon Deere 2020 was sitting for 20 years. After getting it running, I drove it in and out of the garage several times. Now after I start it when I let out the clutch it dies. It has a two stage clutch and hi-lo shift lever. All seemed to work fine until now. Since this problem occurred I have changed the hydraulic oil, filter, and cleaned the screen filter in the front pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Matt

Please post more information to help people help you. Confirm which 2020 you have. 2020s were built different places. Best not to assume which model, all the serial tag info if you don't know, so someone can ID it for you and people think about the right one. Gas or diesel? What have you done for engine maintenance? Did you clean the sump screen in the transmission? What do you mean by it dies when you let the clutch out? Does that mean the engine stumbles/sags and doesn't have power or the engine has plenty of power but the drive train seems to be bound up? Does the tractor roll freely? Is there a chance a shift lever slipped out of a rail and it is locked in two gears?

. Gas engine that seems to run out of fuel ? Serial number info ? Has the oil screen located in the transmission sump been inspected and cleaned if need be ?

Thanks for the help guys. Type-T5R3H
Serial#056747T. Diesel engine with plenty of power.
When I release the clutch it acts like the
transmission is locked. It doesn?t even begin to
move. I can rock the rear wheel by hand but it acts
like it is in gear. I backed the tractor into the shop
the day before. The next time I went to start it the
engine made one revolution at regular speed off the
starter and then it would barely rotate. After that, it
will rotate off the starter with the clutch out but it is
super slow. New starter and deep cycle battery that
is fully charged with 800ccamps. Not sure of
location of transmission sump screen. Thanks again
for all the help.

. The top transmission cover unbolts without undue duress and fuss.

Cleaned sump filter screen. Drained hydraulic oil and flushed three gallons of diesel through case to clean any debri. Is there any way to back flush main hydraulic pump? Thanks for any replies

BUICK is trying to tell you the mechanical transmission behind the hydraulic 2-speed may have somehow gotten jammed in two gears.

I do not know if this is possible on this particular machine, but I would heed his advice and check it out before condemning the hydraulic system or two-speed.

Yes it's possible for a 2020 trans to get stuck in 2 gears. One way that comes to mind is the shift tab spot welded on end of shift rail has broken off leaving trans with one set of gears engaged.

It would surprise me if hyd system is the cause for engine to die when engaging traction clutch

Was there nasty debris in the bottom of the transmission sump and stuck in the screen ?
