Here are some pics of an engine stand that I made this week,,used a 4400 combine final drive and some scrap iron that was out back, used a 404 power unit bell housing to mate up to the engines.

Wow!!! Glad to see you painted it up so nice. That combine final drive is a great great idea. I like how you cut that plate. Paul

Tim, Nice job,but i know the salvage yard is going to charge me 250-300 American for a that drive, how do i get one cheaper ?? I would like to build one !!

I got that one from a friend that had the combine in a demo derby, for $50,,there is not much demand for 4400 combine parts around here, most are in the salvage or scrap yards, actually most any model final drive will work, this one is a 7 to 1 ratio and seems to be about right for my rotation, you will need a lock system to keep it from free wheeling...I can unbolt the adapter plate and bolt any thing else up to it.

hello TIM,, you seem to have a lot of engineering skills,, looking good!! your WARRENTON VA. friend greenwrench. 51 years at the dealership and counting.......

Looks good! A lot cheaper than those OTC engine stands that John Deere made the dealers buy back in the 80's.

They work slick. I made one using a 6600 combine final a few years ago. Used the center dish out of an 8820 rim for the engine mounting plate. Has a 4620 engine hanging on it right now that has wallowed out side frame holes Never got around to painting the stand. I want to make an adapter to use the side frame holes as the mount. That way can install all the guts and feathers along with the flywheel while on the stand.
