620 hyd pump drive ear

Got a bad gear and having a bad time getting the old one out

I have changed these before but never had a time about it

Any ideas as to getting the pin out ??

. Has the gear galled to the shaft due to insufficient libeication ? Prior to assembly the oil supply update should be installed .

Larry, you mention "the pin". Are you referring to the keeper pin that holds the idler shaft in position, or is it the idler shaft itself? I've never had any trouble with the keeper pin. If the keeper pin is sheared, and the idler shaft is spinning in the housing, it can get iffy. The worst one that I ever worked on required the idler gear to be torched off of the idler shaft. I removed the governor housing to do that.

Don't forget about the two hardened washers - one on each side of the idler gear.

Here's the lube upgrade that Buick mentioned (on a JD 50).

No I have the small in out,Ive changed these before but never had one this hard to get out.Dont know if I will weld a nut on the old one to get it out>I have another to put in with the gov. housing done removed that is also a but but thats life

I never thought of welding a nut on the end of the idler shaft. That's a good idea - let us know how it works.

Well finally got the cuss out today

Ended up welding a nut on the end of the pin and hooking it to my slid hammer and there she came

Srop one of the washer in the drink but will deal with that tomorrow
