JD 50 powr-trol question

Hi
I have been chasing why my 3 point hitch will not lift more than 250 lbs. Looked at the hydraulic pump, a few scratches, but I did not think it looked that bad. Relief valve spring in powr-trol looks good. I have not put a pressure gage on it, but getting parts to do so. However, since I was waiting for parts I took the powr-trol housing off to check gasket. That looks good to, however now I am trying to assemble and have the throttle valve and spring. The throttle valve does not go into the powr-trol housing and seat as I would think it should. However all pictures in the manuals have it shown out by approx 1/4 inch.
Anybody out there that has looked at this before??

thank you

If it lifted all the way up did it drift down ?
A gauge should of been put on it before tearing into it.
JD offered a separate repair manual on those hyd. systems. It is a very good book to have.
The throttle valve will stick out different amount depending on how the rate of drop screw is adjusted. Cap nut with adjusting screw inside directly behind it on back of unit.

HI, and thank you. I do have both John Deere manuals as well as the clymer one. But it did not show the throttle valve....it just said be careful not to loose it, and I was. The 3 point goes up and will stay up with a 250 lb load , but will not lift anything heavier...such as a fertilizer spreader with fertilizer.

I did try to put a gage on, but did not put it on the lower remote plug since I only had dummys, instead put in the lower port on the left side(from rear).
I tore into it since I was not sure if the last person to try to fix it put a gasket on or just used sealant.
so, here is where I am so far.
Looked at relief valve...looks good, spring is stout, and has one washer on it.
There was a gasket from last mechanic and was in good shape, I have a new one to put on .
I have not looked at check valves.

The rockshaft piston has a good seal, and there are no scratches on bore

Hydraulic pump has the key installed on drive gear, there were a few scratches, but i do not think anything that would cause it to be so weak.
and I ordered remote plugs from steiner, which will be in today.

sorry to be so wordy, but if I can get this to lift, it will be a useful tractor around the farm.

thank you
