4020 fuel tank leaking

Need to replace the fuel tank on my 4020 diesel, bottom is rusted out. Leaning towards the plastic tank from Abilene Machine, appreciate any comments pro or con. I know it can be fixed and lined, but I'm not really interested in re-doing it again in a few years.
The old tank sat on some sort of material, was too far gone to really tell what it was, and it may not have been the original tank anyway, so who knows what it was. The JD parts catalog doesn't show anything for the tank to sit on, at least that I can find. Is there a JD part for a gasket or pad for the tank to sit on? If not, what should I use?

This same issue was discussed (but not necessarily solved) just a few threads down the page.

I have not heard much good about the plastic fuel tanks. JD Seller posted awhile back about how they are to flimsy and do not support the air cleaner well enough. Have heard some others say the same thing. If you do it post back and let us know how it works out for you. Maybe their tank is better than some of the others. Tom

Just go and find a good used steel EOM tank. The plastic ones I have seen are not very good in quality. They do not fit exactly right. They also seem to crack after a few years. The original steel tank has lasted for over 40 years. They rust from the inside out usually. Simple solution is to drain the water out every now and then. There is a drain right there to do it with.

I've put in a couple 4010/20 plastic fuel tanks and had thought they fit ok....no complaints from the owners. They do have to be set just right to get the filler neck to line up with the hood hole.

The fuel tank originally set on a circular foam pad....was still available from Deere last I needed one. Could be obsolete by now.

I had thought my 4010 fuel tank was leaking....I drained and pulled the tank off and it has a really neatly done patch brazed on the bottom where it had rusted through from the outside in(setting in dirt). My fuel leak was actually the fuel pipe under the tank had rubbed a hole in it.
