Wow I knew that A/C was optional but I didn't know the heater was too !

What a good investment. What else could you by beat the crap out of it and wear it out for 43 years and still sell it for more than you paid for it !
Those that actually took care of them are really doing well.

I added up the numbers for the 4430 I bought new in 1973 and it came up to exactly what I paid for it...$15,000. Brought 14,000 in 1996 with roughly 6,000 hours on the original engine/Quad Range.

In the area I was from there were very few 4230 or 4430's sold with cabs, most were 4posts and a few were only fender many 4040 and 4240's were sold the same way. Tom

hey thats a nice piece of history. My father bought a 4630 in 1972 and paid 14500 up here in ont, canada. Was a great tractor, did lots of plowing and cultivating, and in the winter it blew snow for the township. we still have it, but it has gotten its pink slip. Semi retired to smaller jobs and lighter work, like my dad.
Him and I rebuilt the motor at 6000hrs, and did the transmission just after that. I restored the cab interior and it got a new set of 4 rear Boots a few years ago. The tractor will wax up and polish like new, it is one of my dads pride and joy. I dont have a pix of it all polished up but here is one in its working cloths pulling an RTS, with the proud owner at the wheel. We bought a 7810 to replace it in 2002 and the front wheel drive option was 14000. hard to believe.

If you're gonna wish, you might as well wish big and opt for a brand new 4050 or 4055.... Heck, why not go for the MFWD and powershift?

Tom No I don't have one for the 4230. $1000-1200 less than 4430 would be my guess. Dad bought one in the mid 80s. Brother still has it. Lynn

interesting!

One thing,

I've got a 4630 with a quad range... I don't see an option listed for that? maybe that was an option only in later years?

Interesting as weights, duals, scvs. bring twice as much used. Some of the New Gen 1&II still bring twice their new value.Inflation plus shrinking $

We bought a new 4630 in 1976,It had all the options including 2 remote cylinders hanging on the back, but I didn't see that in the options...I know they were shipped with the tractor.

Thanks for showing this. If you're willing, I'd sure appreciate a pdf - rocky ridge 53813 at gmail dot com. Anyone have the price list for the 77 model year for comparison?

Imagine those that decided to save $1800 by not getting a cab and air. How'd that work out for you at trade in time?

I saw a 1973 4630 synchro at a sale last year that had a cab, but no air, AND no tilt steering wheel. I can only imagine what was going through the guy's head that bought it - "My 4620 didn't have tilt/telescoping steering wheel! I'll be darned if I'm gonna waste $45 on one on this tractor!" Wonder if he ever regretted his mistake. Tractor sold for $8000 at that sale.

Some of the first ones sold had Year-A-Round style cabs installed instead of the expensive sound guard cab. That trend didn't last long.

I found the invoice for the 4630 we bought in 1976, but it faded and I can't read it,Darn it, "but" as I was looking I found the invoice for the 4400 we bought in Sept 1974 for $27,341 with 444 head and 213 platform, and a 6600 Side Hill bought in Aug. of 1978 for $62,000 with 444 head and 213 platform, big difference from the 660 we bought a couple years ago..

Tim It says partial list of extra equipment and options so there must have been more options than on this price sheet. Lynn

I'm new here today. I found this post way back in 2015 and enjoyed it. So I thought that I would ad a picture of a John Deere 4240 / build sheet, list price window sticker that I have had in my pictures.

These prices that have been shown are really neat to see! I would really like to see one of these price list of a 4250 and a 4450.

Thank you to those of you who have posted your prices on the 30 series tractors, and also the 6600 combine! This is just great to see! I am hoping to resurrect this post for awhile.

Well that picture isn't as big as I thought it would be. Even I can't read it. I rotated it hoping that you can see it better.
