Has anyone swapped out the Starter on a JD 520 for a JD 530 starter?

I have a Neighbor that owns a JD 520 with a toasted Starter. He has a chance to purchase a NOS 530 starter.

If anyone KNOWS for sure these starters are a direct swap, then I shall look after the electrical installation/ upgrade as per the JD 530.

Thanks

The 530 starter has a solenoid operated drive using a dash push button, the 520 starter drive is manually operated by foot pressure. The drives are also different but both have 9 teeth. Ring gears are the same though.

Forgot to mention the nose on a 520 starter is different than a 530 starter nose so not sure if the bolt patterns are the same. The 530 starter has a shunt field to keep it from spinning itself to death so may not spin as fast as a 520 starter. If they do interchange let us know so we may all learn something!

I left my summer residence and forgot to bring my JD 520/530 PARTS Catalog with me ....&^%$*^$#!

I shall e-mail my Neighbor and tell him to check all JD 520/530 parts numbers and compare them....as in the housing as to were the Starters mount into the bottom of the tractor.
