John Deere 70 Standard value

Just trying to get a sanity check here.. looking at a JD 70 standard gas motor no power steering and factory 3 pt hitch. Its in good original condition. Paint is not perfect by any means but the sheet metal is nice and straight. A little paint could clean it up quite nicely. Motor runs nice. He's asking 6200. Most of the 70 gas tractors i've been seeing for same condition are running somewhere between 4000-4500. Is the standard that much more rare that its driving the price up?

It has Deere 3 point? Does it have a adjustable Deere front axle?
If the tractor over all is nice, PTO & hydraulic system works nice,
they price seem High without a adjustable wide front axle & no P/S.
About 1200 too high in my book.. Beware if you plan on using it, it
loves gasoline but not as bad a G.

Paid half of that for mine with PS and complete 801 3pt. PS was not working when I acquired mine probably hurt the price. Mine also had nearly new
tires.

Thanks. Thanks kinda what I was thinking. And yes I am planing on using it on my small farm. Also doing a little more research seems like the 3 pt and hydraulics are going to be a lot more like my A than grandpas 620. I’d much rather have independent hydraulics and 3 point for my main farming tractor. So I might pass on this one anyway.

The asking price is too high. The value is a factor of condition of rear tires, does it have lpto, does it have adjustable front axle, does it have power steering, does it have rockshafts and the overall mechanical condition of the engine and transmission. The 70's commonly have issues in the gears 3 & 4 if they have been worked hard. You would quickly learn to hate the manual steering if you used the tractor much. I have a 70 diesel standard with adjustable front end, power steering ,lpto and good pony engine...Paid $2300 for it. It ran, but needed a head gasket. Fuel consumption of the gas models is a concern if you intend to work it, that's why the diesel model was introduced in the 1955 model.

B-D....the first 70 diesel was made in December 1954, but it was the start of the 1955 model year.

Yup you have it, 1954 date but 1955 production year. 1st gas standard was July 7th 1954, last gas standard June 5th 1956 . 1st diesel 70 row crop on October 27th 1954 . 1st standard diesel November 4th 1954. Last diesel 70 was a standard on July 20th 1956.

From the production registry. The tractors have a better paper trail and history than some people .
