Yup, someone had repowered it with a Deere engine. The owner had no idea. The engine was a nice CASE industrial yellow, and the sn tag above the starter was conveniently missing. So we've no idea what the engine actually is. I did find the casting number. R124853. And based on google info it's possibly a 6068??? It has pencil injectors and a rotary injection pump. No turbo. Little oil cooler right behind the timing cover on the starter (RH) side (viewed looking at the flywheel end). So, if it is a 6068, what would the rough HP rating be for a naturally aspirated one?
