Any follow up on the tractor that wouldn't start? We need to know what you found wrong! I have a similar tractor that has been flawless, but I want to be prepared for problems.

I had been wandering also? I had a 5045 that always cranked real sluggish and had to jump a time or 2. Traded it for a new 2014 5065 and also sluggish, last winter I went to a new Strongbox in 31 series and sure helped a lot but I wish cranked faster but still has 15W40 in it but if I plug block heater in when it gets to 30 deg. or less no problems.

Never have had any trouble with the 5095 starting in the cold. Now that I said that it probably wont start this weekend to feed hay.

Our second battery in the 4600 was a strongbox, it lasted 13 years 3 months! Tractor has always started immediately, you don't even hear it turn over. The only time I have ever really heard it crank is after I changed fuel filter, I didn't have it bled completely. When it's getting close to 0 F I always plug it in, but I understand they will start well below 0 without, but I don't treat my engines that way. Our 4600 had a Yanmar engine.

Russ, I don't know where the Strongbox is built at but went to JD dealer and they were out said he would have next day, got it next day and the manufacturing date was 3 days before I got it! I know it was fresh.

I need to go get the 4250 and put the blade on it. It still has the baler hooked to it. The wife is making me take her out for our anniversary tonight so guess it will have to wait. I have the small blade on the 4230 but it's open station!
