John Deere G governor gasket thickness

Looking for the proper thickness of gasket material for John Deere G governor housing to main case gasket. I want to use the correct thickness to have correct backlash. Thanks

I like to save all my old gaskets in case I need to measure the thickness for just such an instance. You have any old pieces of it left ? I think the ones I've made for late B's since they were NLA I used NAPA part # JV100 I use it for lots of gaskets. You could set it down on the main case and stick some feeler gauges under it in at least 3 spots and see where you will be at for a starting point ?

I beg to differ. ( partially ) they are not for adjustment but to thin and it might bind up the gears as in no backlash ! Too thick and you will get lots of extra unneeded play.

Spring on the clutch side is supposed to take care of the backlash. Unless you really get carried away I don't think it makes much difference. We have even run them using only Right Stuff sealer.
