Fleet Farm is running a sale now with pretty good pricing. Mobil information sheet says it is recommended for J20C applications, and helps with brake and pto chatter. Is it OK for a 4020, or use Hy Gard at about 40% more cost?

Deere originaly had 303 oil which was later replaced by 20C which was replaced by Hy guard. In a 4020 I would be fine with 20c and we use alot of it here. If you are running a 6,7 or 8000 series tractor I would stay with the hy guard. Tom

Good stuff... have used it or it's predecessor Mobil 423 since the 1980s. It will meet or exceed any Hygard specs. I have several tractors with 30,000+ hours that have had minimal trans work that have had 424 for decades. I use it everywhere from 4020 to R series.

Well I use to run the yellow bucket 303 20$ a pail
stuff in a 4020 synchro it was only when I bought a
3020 poweshift that I started buying the premium
j20c spec oil I buy it at Bomgarrs for 30$ a bucket . I
know lots of guys who use Mobil 424 but the price
on it around here is 75$ a pail and I can buy actual
hygard for 70$ a pail
