Not sure about these spark plugs for my JD H

My 42 H was getting harder to start. Hand Crank.
Bought some Autolite 3116 plugs the other day for it. Here is one beside the Champion D23 that was in it.
What do yall think. Those Champions were in it when I bought many years ago.

That's the same plug I run in my 39h a autolite 3116 and it has ran great. At first there was champion in it after I rebuilt it like 3 years ago and it ran ok but not as nice as it dose by just changing out them plugs. One day we were going to a tractor show and it started to miss and quit running on one cyl so we replace them and ill never go back to champion now how nice it runs.

I Know the 388 is a resistor plug , but they have always worked good for me. They are to be the heat range of the champion D23 but normal length to fit under the spark plug covers properly.
I am not sure about the 3116 with the extended porcelain ? Do they foul worse ? or less ?

Richard, first off for magneto ignitions I highly recommend use of a NON Resistor plug and the Autolite 3116 (unlike 386 or 388) happens to be that. Next for a light duty tractor and/or one that is an oil burner or has low compression I RECOMMEND A HOTTER PLUG

Therefore regardless of brand I would use a NON Resistor plug and one that's hotter for a low compression or light duty or an oil burner ???.

We sued to reccommend the D23s for older JD s. I have also used them in tractors that wanted to foul plugs. That long base seems to be effective. I know there are other plusgs that are said to be comparable but none that have the long base. I am not really a champion fan but haven't found a comparable plug to D23 in other brands

quite sure that champion plug is correct, the other on has short threads that's why the electrode is longer on it. . . so do you just let the extra threads in the head just carbon up? plus it extra combustion area. that's what I see looking at those two examples. if it was my tractor I would stick to the proper plug.
