John Deere Baker multivalve stud extension

Took the powrtol and Baker valve off my 60 to work on the rockshaft cylinder. While I was back there I noticed that I had stripped/destroyed the threaded portion of one of the extension studs. Any reason I can't just remove the extension and install a piece of all thread and cut off the excess once the powrtol is installed? Thanks,

Pete

Can't tell for sure but if the tractor has a threaded hole that goes into the hyd. oil some thread sealer will be needed to keep oil from leaking from the threads. If it is a blind hole than should not have that problem but I'd not want the rod to bottom out in the hole either.

If you want to keep it as it was originally set up, it would be a simple matter to make in the lathe.

Heck, post the dimensions and I'll make you one!

Bob, thanks for the offer and I can certainly post the dimensions but if a piece of all thread will work (maybe with a little Permatex and a copper washer under the nut?) I wouldn't want to make work for anyone else.

Incidentally, my other JD 60 has only all thread studs in the powrtrol--when I bought it at a sale someone had removed all the cap screws and replaced them with long studs so they could mount a toplink bracket on the powr-trol! This seemed like a engineering debacle waiting to happen to me so I took it off and put one of the aftermarket axle mount brackets on. I just didn't know if the additional baker valve behind my powrtrol would preclude me from using a simple stud for some reason. Thanks,

Pete
