Help with 4020 Intake Upgrade

Same tractor from my other post about the oil leak, but while installing the diesel motor, I decided to upgrade the air intake manifold from the old style 68 to the late 71/72 style. At the time I didn't really think about how it would affect the piping from the air cleaner but now that I have it on there, I see that I need different piping. With the new manifold, the intake port is pushed rearward about 8 inches. I'm having difficulty figuring out the right parts and locating those parts (pipe and suction hose combination), mostly because most of the late models didn't use the pre-cleaner out the hood like this one has.

I know on my late model 4000, it has an "S" shaped pipe (R51099). The book shows this but I am not sure if the S pipe will work with the old style suction hose or if suction hose R42959 will work with my current pipe if I cut it down. Anyone gone down this road before?

Use a stiff wire and make a template for your bends and go to a muffler shop and get one made, they can shape the ends to fit the hoses..I have a pic of one of mine,,can't find it now Darn it

If you don't want to go to the auto exhaust shop and get custom piping made as Tim suggests, you could possibly do as I did, when I put a diesel in my 2520. I used auto exhaust pipe pieces and elbows off the shelf, appropriate hose, and clamps.

(quoted from post at 10:24:38 01/01/19) I'm fortunate to have a cousin that owns a muffler shop....close to me..

That would certainly help. I'm hoping I can first locate factory parts. If that fails I may have to resort to the muffler pipe.
