Bolt on. I think they call these a convertible front end where you can bolt on the lower unit.

Yes 50 R-O-M will fit an AN with split pedestal.

The model 50 roll o matic is to light for a model A. You need one for a 60 or 70.

I used to hear of "Standard" R-O-M and "Heavy-Duty" Rollomatic...

Not positive, but I know I have heard those terms...could you be looking at the lighter of the two..?

From what I have found in the parts books is both the A and 50 use the same extension housing A 4201 R, but it looks like the spindle knuckles are different at least going by the part #'s.
